Obituary of Blanch Irene Sterling


Blanch Irene Sterling, 88, of Adrian passed away Friday, December 31, 2021 at Lynwood Manor.


Irene was born on November 19, 1933 to the late Lloyd and Cora (Turner) Wilcox in Morenci, MI. She attended Morenci High School. On April 12, 1952, she married the love of her life, Richard E. Sterling, in Angola, Indiana.


Throughout her life, Irene served her family as a dedicated and hardworking homemaker. However, apart from her chores, she found great enjoyment in crafts and sewing. She was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a lifetime member of the Morenci Church of the Nazarene. Above all, she found the greatest enjoyment in spending time with those whom she loved, especially her family and friends.


Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jack Sterling (Trish) of Morenci, Karen Sterling of Adrian, Peggy Birr of Adrian, Kathy Cheesbro (Larry) of Morenci; two step-brothers; a step-sister; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.


Preceding her in death are her parents, Lloyd and Cora Wilcox; husband, Richard Sterling; daughter, Linda Sterling; Sisters, Lillian Wilcox, Gladys Moog, and Florence Miller; and a brother Franklin Wilcox.


Per Blanch’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the National Kidney Foundation or to the American Diabetes Association.
