Obituary of Kenneth M Dillon
Kenneth Michael Dillon, 50, of Morenci Mich., passed away Dec. 19 2021 at ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital in Adrian Mich. after a courageous battle with Covid.
Ken was born on April 13, 1971, in Wauseon, Ohio to Mary (Garcia) McCowan and the late Sammy G. Dillon. He graduated from Morenci High School Class of 1990.. He married the love of his life, Sherri A. Dillon (Diener), on April 16, 1999, in Toledo, Ohio. She preceded him in death Oct. 20, 2016.
Ken worked in the road construction business for nearly 30 years. He started on a bridge crew for SE Johnson and Sharp Testing, and remained with the companies as they were purchased by the Shelly Materials Company in 2002.
He was passionate about being a part of his community, and assisted in coaching soccer and summer league baseball for many years. If he wasn’t on the sidelines coaching Ken could be found in the bleachers cheering on his sons, or at the concession stand helping his wife feed the crowds. Ken would always be among the first to respond whenever help was needed, going above and beyond to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Ken is remembered for his love of family. He took any opportunity to gather those closest to him and celebrate. No matter the weather he would be at his grill making an array of barbecued foods for his family gatherings. As summer turned to fall Ken enjoyed going out to the woods to go deer hunting and take in the changing of the seasons as his favorite time of year approached, Christmas. When the holiday season came around he pulled out all the stops, decorating both the interior and exterior of his home with an extensive collection Christmas lights, figurines and miniature village houses. Multiple times a day he could be found taking his three dogs for walks, where he would chat with neighbors.
Ken is survived by two sons, Kenneth Dillon II of Orlando Fla.; and Koty Dillon of Morenci Mich.; his mother, Mary (Tom Monday) McCowan; five sisters, Carrie Dillon, Tina (and Rob) Geiner, Trina (and Lou) O’Brien, Lillian McCowan, Heather (and Jeff) Parker; two brothers, Eugene McCowan, and JR (and Jody) McCowan; a stepfather, Millard (and Peggy) McCowan; as well as several nieces and nephews and his canine companions, Aria, Boss, and Magnum.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sammy G. Dillon, and his wife, Sherri A. Dillon.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23 2021, at the Eagle-Marry Funeral Home in Morenci with Pastor Darren Lemmon officiating. Burial will follow at Porter (Packard) Cemetery near Seneca. The family will receive friends for visitation from 2 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021 at the Eagle-Marry Funeral Home.
