Obituary of Charles Milton Rodgers
Charles Milton Rodgers age 65 departed this life on December 18, 2021, with his loving wife at his side. Charles was born in Humboldt Tennessee December 28, 1954, to Mamie Donald and Fred Rodgers. He attended Stigall public school and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1973.
Charles accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church until his move to Adrian Michigan. After moving to Michigan Charles joined Bethel AME Church. Charles had a passion for serving God and giving his testimony. He faithfuly served as the head trustee, President of the usher board, Choir director and Sunday school teacher. He also enjoyed the fellowship with the Higher Ground men’s group.
He married the love of his life Brenda Word November 29, 1975. To this union were born two children, Karen Nicole and Preston Rodgers.
Charles worked for Wacker Chemical for 40 years. He retired in 2014. Charles loved spending time with family, fishing, and golfing. He also had a passion for cooking. Especially making Mr. Poppy’s barbecue sauce.
He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Brenda Rodgers. Two children, Karen Booth (David) and Preston Rodgers (Chiquita); mother, Mamie Donald; sisters, Karen Harts (James), Kim Echols, and Dafney Shivers (Fred); brothers, Anthony Hubbard, and Johnathan Donald; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his father, Fred Rodgers; grandfather, Richard Donald; and grandmothers, Winerfred Rodgers and Christine Seward.
Visitation for Charles will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at Noon until the time of the service at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian with Pastor Jackson officiating.
