Obituary of Marian Marie Vernier
ADRIAN: Marian Marie Vernier, age 66 of Adrian, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at home. She was born on July 22, 1955 to Richard and Leona (Galarneau) Ward in Dearborn, Michigan. She was married 30 years to Steven Vernier of Adrian and he survives her.
Marian loved her family and loved nature; she was at her happiest when combining the best of both of these worlds. Fond memories of her childhood trips to the family cabin in Northern Michigan presented themselves in the adventures she shared with her own children and her granddaughter Skylar. She loved when her brothers and sisters and their families would gather together for a family vacation, exploring wilderness trails in the Tahquamenon Falls area of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
She had a passion for painting, her granddaughter Skylar was one of her favorite subjects. Her other favorites included horses and nature; places that she had visited or someday hoped to visit. Her passion even went international when an art collector in Austria purchased one of her paintings of Tahquamenon Falls for a gallery there.
Marian also had a love of literature. When her children were in elementary school, she served as a librarian at the school they were attending. She always wanted to be close by if her children needed anything. She later served at Adrian District Library and would bring home books she had found that she knew her family would be interested in. If you ever had a question that needed answers, Marian could find a book that will lead you to it. She especially enjoyed extensive, heated debates with her son-in-law.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband; children, Reid (Arianna) Vernier and Sarah (Ben) Hutchison; siblings, Sharon (Richard) Moore, Gary (Doris) Ward and Charlotte (Joe) Brown; grandchildren, Skylar and Riley (due in February); faithful canine companions, Daisy and Ginger. She was preceded in death by her parents Richard Ward and Leona Pegg, brothers, Michael Ward and a brother lost in infancy. She was dearly loved by her family and friends.
