So sad to hear of Evelyn's passing. She was a terrific friend, and had such an upbeat personality. Shared many giggles through the years, and spent a lot of time with her at the Horner's Store in Sand Creek. Loved my 7 cent cones, as she always gave me an extra scoop!! Clearly recall several Sunday afternoons, when we would go to Dixie's to get her ready for her weekly date. So funny. Our Friday night trips to Bummies Drive In with friends, were so enjoyable. Once, we got followed home all the way to my log cabin house in Sand Creek, which was way off the road. Was nervous to walk to the door alone, so Evelyn, with the short hair, pulled up the collar of her jacket, and escorted me safely to the stoop. Not sure they were fooled though. The things we did!!!
I moved over 4 hours away into Ohio shortly after graduation, but, I so enjoyed seeing her at reunions to catch up. Liked getting to know Dave better too. He was a terrific guy and I am sure his family and friends miss him too.
Tried hard to contact her at her living facility in Oh., but my cards were all returned with a Not Deliverable message. Prayers for all her family and friends who will be missing her terribly. Hope you have as many warm, funny memories as I have.
We are so sorry to hear of Evelyn's passing. As a classmate and close friend I have many memories Evelyn from high school and later when she and Dave moved back to Sand Creek. Evelyn loved to shop, so we along with other shoppers would go to Shipshewana Xmas shopping and one time had to drive home in a roaring blizzard. But we all made it. I remember Evelyn coming to my house in Weston to try on dresses either for the prom or she was in the queen's court. I might be remembering this wrong but think she picked out a beautiful turquoise one. Anyway she loved trying on those dresses. She was a very good friend and will be dearly missed.
Condolences to Deirdre, Debbie and their families. Nancy Cole Bailey
