Obituary of Carl Arthur Pickles
Blissfield – Carl Arthur Pickles, age 78, of Blissfield, went to be with the Lord, after a short illness on September 16, 2021. He was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1942, in Adrian to Thomas N. and Jean (DiPasquale) Pickles. He graduated from Sand Creek High School in the class of 1960. On May 16, 1964, at Fairfield Baptist Church in Fairfield, he married Nancy L. Van Nest and she survived. Carl was a charter member of Grace Point EFC, serving as a church usher for many years and served as Secretary of Pickles & Pickles Properties, Inc. from 1998 – 2020.
Carl retired from National Cash Register after 35 years in September 2000 and enjoyed his retirement, with his family. He enjoyed traveling and his time in Florida, deer hunting, golfing, pickle ball, flying R.C. Airplanes, woodturning, and took much pride in his gardening. In the fall he made gallons of apple cider, and loved when the whole family was involved. He loved the great outdoors and the beauty of the seasons. He loved to take walks in the family woods, especially in the fall.
Carl is survived by his wife, Nancy, his son, Gregory S. Pickles of Blissfield; two granddaughters, Bailey L. and Brooke K. Pickles both of Blissfield; sister, Ruth (Jim) Kovach of Tarpon Springs, FL; two brothers, Larry (Glenda) Pickles of Tecumseh and Paul (Betty Jo) Pickles of Adrian; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents (who died of Spanish Flu in 1918); and his maternal grandparents. The family of Carl would like to thank all the nurses and doctors who gave Carl special care during his recent stay at Hickman Hospital.
Visitation for Carl will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Anderson-Rudd Funeral Home, Blissfield. The funeral service will also be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastors Jeff Barbieri and Dan Hammerberg, officiating. Interment will follow in Palmyra Cemetery.
