Adrian – Ethel May Gentner, age 69, of Adrian passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. She was born on October 18, 1951, in Rensselaer, IN, the daughter of Austin and Gracie (Castle) Whitaker. She was a graduate of Rensselaer High School and went on to receive her Associate Degree in Business from Jackson College. On June 12, 1971, in Adrian, Ethel married Dennis Gentner and he survives. Ethel had been employed as a Security Guard, clerical and accounting for her daughter’s business, and retired in 2016 from Brown Chiropractic Center where she was a Medical Biller. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, enjoyed reading, loved giving gifts, and frequently traveled before her grandchildren were born.
In addition to her husband, Dennis, she is survived by her three children, Christina (David) Robertson, Robert (Jennifer) Gentner, and Michael Gentner; nine grandchildren, Matthew and Ashtin Staudinger, Morgan, Noah, Reagan, Lauren, Autumn, Köen, and Brennan Gentner; five step-grandchildren, Cassie Fields, David Robertson, Kristie and Cortnee Lembrick, and Chelsie Sayler; one brother, Amel Whitaker; three sisters, Barb (Harold) McKnight, Carol (Riley) Duncan-Feltman, Sharon (Chuck) Bilyeu. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Glora, Helen, Macky, and in infancy, Bevleen; and two brothers, Steve and Frank.
Per Ethel’s request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
