Obituary of Florence Lydia Halsey

Adrian – Florence Lydia Halsey, age 97, of Adrian, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021, at Caring Dunn Right in Morenci – the last of her eight siblings. She was born on January 24, 1924, in Romulus, to Elwood and Ethel (Hulbert) Lapeer. She was married to Percy Halsey, and he preceded her in death. Florence had been employed at the Kroger Egg Plant where she candled eggs, at her home as a Switchboard Operator, singing at lunchtime at the Aircraft Engine Plant in Battle Creek during WWII, and retiring from the Morenci Rubber Plant where she was an Inspector. As a member of Medina Federated Church, Florence had an passionate love for Jesus and read her Bible faithfully everyday. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, reading, and solving crossword puzzles. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a spunky and witty woman, who had a great love for animals.

Florence is survived by her son, Steven Halsey. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Elwood Penfold.

The funeral service for Florence will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Medina Federated Church with Pastor Darren Lemmon officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Morenci.
