Obituary of Donna Edna LaMonde
DEERFIELD-Donna Edna LaMonde, age 79, formerly of Deerfield, died Saturday, August 7, 2021. She was born November 28, 1941, in Willis, Michigan to Carlos Lane and Catherine (Maxwell) Beckington. On December 24, 1970, she married Ronald J. LaMonde, and he preceded her in death on October 19, 2004. Many remember her as the “turtle lady”, the owner of the Shiver Shack for over 40 years. She was an active member of the Deerfield community, being part of the planning commission, a member of St. Alphonsus-Light of Christ Catholic Church and its Prayer Group, several local Boards of Realtors, and served at Vice-President, then President of the Michigan Soft Serve, Fast Food Association.
Surviving Donna are her children, Danita (Joseph) Krueger, Craig and Daniel LaMonde; daughter-in-law, Julie; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Victoria, and Serina Krueger, Kysha, Kassandra, Austin, Juliana, Pierce, and Tessa LaMonde, Jason, Ryan and Taylor Summers, and Ashley, Kayla and Chase Entrikin; a niece and nephew that she raised after their mother died, Thomas Entrikin and Janette (Bob) Summers, and another niece, Betsey Kline – all of which were like children to her; and three sisters, Delia Gunnels, Rita (Jim) Whitaker, and Anita (Lon Barnett) Judson. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Shawn LaMonde; a brother, Lany Beckington; a sister, Carol Entrikin; and a daughter-in-law, Paula Swanson.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Scripture Service will be offered on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at the St. Alphonsus-Light of Christ Catholic Church with Fr. Jeff Poll as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Church, also on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
