Obituary of Ralph W Reckner
Ralph Wayne Reckner Jr., age 68, of Morenci, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at a job site in Pontiac, MI. He was born May 2, 1953 to Ralph Sr. and Ivagene (Rathbun) Reckner. On July 7, 1973 in Morenci he married his best friend, Jaclynn S. Shoemaker.
Over the past several years, Ralph has worked as a field director for Woda Cooper Group out of Columbus, Ohio. Even though his job, at times, required extensive travel to many different states; he never lost his deep connection with his family by sharing texts and videos of his grandchildren's athletic competitions and games. Ralph was always so proud of his grandkids and would talk about them to anyone who was willing to listen.
When Ralph wasn’t watching sporting events, he was sharing his love and knowledge of Indian artifacts, history of WW II and playing a good game of checkers. Ralph enjoyed his countryside drives with his fur babies, Gingle and Belle, and would occasionally allow his wife to join him.
Ralph was a long time former member of the Morenci Fire Department and served as their Rescue Captain for many years.
In addition to his wife, Jaclynn and fur babies Gingle and Belle, Ralph is survived by two sons Jason (September) and Dustin (Jennifer) Reckner, and a daughter, Marisa (Tyler) Sutherland. The grandchildren he so loved, Lennie and Jeannie Reckner, Hannah, Collin and Emma Reckner; Bryson, Lydia, and Rosson Sutherland will always remember him as their “Popper”. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David Reckner; and his in-laws, Oney and Katherine “Juanita” Shoemaker.
Funeral Services for Ralph will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Eagle-Marry Funeral Home, Morenci with Craig Patterson officiating. Burial will be held in Porter-Packard Cemetery..
