Obituary of Dionicia DeLaCruz

ADRIAN – Dionicia “Chita” DeLaCruz, age 97, of Adrian, died Sunday, May 30, 2021, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility. She was born September 30, 1923, in Dilley, TX to Ignacio and Otila (Martinez) Trevino. On September 27, 1947, she married Eliseo DeLaCruz in Adrian. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1971. Dionicia was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Guadalupe Society and a Crusillista. She was a devout Catholic who prayed the Rosary daily. Chita was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister who was like a mother to many! When you came to her home you were welcomed with food and laughter. She enjoyed life with her family who were her pride and joy.  Her biggest wish for everyone was to have “PEACE”.    

 

Her survivors include four daughters, Stella (Joe) Guerrero of Adrian, Gloria (Roberto) Quiroz of Marina DelRey, CA, Rosanna (Lester Poehner) DeLaCruz  of Santa Rosa, CA, and Angelina (Magdy) AbouZied of Sylvania, OH; a brother, Robert (Sandy) Trevino of Adrian; two sisters, Maria “Blanca” DeLaCruz of Adrian and Dora (Sam) Medina of Adrian; seven grandchildren, Jayne (Victor) Coronado, Stella (Efrain) Cepida, Dyana (Michael) Garza, Anwar and Amir AbouZied, Evita and Rob (Fatima) Quiroz; nine great-grandchildren, Nico (Amanda), Luis and Ariana Coronado, Zacaria and Cristyana Cepida, Katelyn, Roberto, Isabella Quiroz, Nicholas (Tayler) Garza; 3 great-great grandchildren, Harvi Coronado, Aiden and Lilliana Garza. In addition to her husband, Eliseo, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ignacio Trevino, Jr., and four sisters, Fantina in infancy, Florinda (Felix) Terrazas, Angelica (Jesse) Gonzales and Otila (Rudy) Salazar and brother-in-law, Manuel DeLaCruz.

 

The Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph Campus with Father Michael Newman as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, where a Rosary Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. officiated by Janie Garcia. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral liturgy at Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph Campus. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and social distancing regulations, only a limited number of individuals will be allowed in the chapel at a time and masks are required.
