Virginia Thielan

Obituary of Virginia Thielan

Virginia “Ginny” Thielan, age 84, died Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Hospice of Lenawee’s Hospice Home.

She was born September 10, 1936,  in Albany, KY, the daughter of William and Lela (Thomas) Brown.  On October 30, 1953, Ginny married Jacob Andrew Thielan in Angola, IN and they celebrated over 60 years together until his death in January, 2014.  She worked as an assistant head cashier for Kroger, retiring in 1984.  Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye and she was always quick to share a story or a picture.  She and her best friend, Claudette, enjoyed many good times together, especially these last few years.  Ginny missed the return of the grosbeaks this spring but thanks to the Hospice Home, was surrounded by the singing of birds as they came to her window.  There was nothing better to her than a good novel, especially by her favorite author, John Grisham, or her favorite television show, Blue Bloods which she would binge watch like it was her job!

Surviving Ginny is her son; Dale (Cathleen) Thielan of Adrian, two daughters, Donna (Tim) Snyder of  Reading, MI and Theresa (Rick Coppens) Thielan of Redford, MI, a sister-in-law, Connie Brown of Toledo, four grandchildren; Jenna (Sherman) Bigornia, Carley (Edgardo) Alvarez, Emily (Jesse) Bradley and Lt. Cmdr. Elana Phipps, USN and five great-grandchildren; Xavier, Rosalie, Misty, Maddie and Jake, many nieces and nephews and her best friend, Claudette Swift. In addition to her husband, Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Wayne Brown and a sister Mona Rowley.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. The family deeply appreciates the remarkable care Ginny received by the Hospice Staff.  You may send condolences to the family at www.andersonfuneralservices.com. Those wishing to honor Ginny’s memory are asked to make a donation to Hospice of Lenawee.  Envelopes are available at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian.
