Obituary of James William Gentz

James “Jim” William Gentz, age 45, of Flint, passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc from complication of COVID-19. He was born on September 11, 1975, the son of Bruce and Karen (Seeburger) Gentz. He was a 1993 graduate of Blissfield High School and received his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kettering University where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He had been employed as a Mechanical Engineer at Chrysler Tech Center in Auburn Hills. Jim attended the Universal Unitarian Church in Flint. Jim had an unusually wide and diverse group of friends across Genesee County who valued his kindness. Jim will be remembered by his family and friends as a socially awkward walking encyclopedia of knowledge. He had a great knowledge of every Jeep made, ways to increase horsepower, his 1963 Dodge pickup truck, and motorcycles. He brewed and enjoyed craft beers, enjoyed skeet shooting, and in his younger years, he was a proud Eagle Scout. Most importantly, Jim was a supporting and loving father to his four children.

In addition to his father, Bruce, Jim is survived by his children, Christine, Morgan, Madeleine, and Jaxon; brother, Garry (Jane) Gentz; aunts and uncles, Dale and Monica Wotring, Dwight and Roxanne Gentz, Duane Gentz, Dawn and Ted Reyome, and Rita and David Kuhl. He was preceded in death by his mother, his maternal and paternal grandparents, and cousins, Corey Wotring and Michelle Bailey.

Visitation for Jim will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021, from 4-8 p.m. at Anderson-Rudd Funeral Home, Blissfield. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service at Anderson-Rudd Funeral Home, Blissfield with Pastor Lynn Kerr officiating. Burial will be in Palmyra Cemetery.
