Obituary of Edwin Dean Barricklow
Edwin Dean Barricklow, age 97, of Adrian, died Wednesday, February 10, 2021, peacefully at his home.
He was born October 7, 1923, in Bucyrus, Ohio to Carlos Albert and Nola Annis (Brock) Barricklow. He graduated from Onsted High School. Dean is one of the last two members of his graduating class of 1942. On February 17, 1946, he married Mary Ann Dentel and she preceded him in death on September 27, 2014. Dean farmed for part of his life and worked for Brazeway for 28 years. He was a member of the Madison Fire Department for over 28 years and he passed as the oldest, retired member of the department. He had been an active member of the Mom and Dad’s Club at Madison Schools. Dean also volunteered at Salvation Army working at the food bank. He was also a member of the Moose Club and Gleaner Life Insurance. Dean enjoyed playing card games, especially euchre and pinochle. He and Mary Ann enjoyed dancing and camping together. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Dean is survived by his daughter, Carol Ann (James) Cousino of Adrian; son, Michael Dean (Sheryl) Barricklow of Grand Haven; sister-in-law, Marcella Barricklow, of Adrian; 6 grandchildren;13 great-grandchildren; and his faithful canine companion Chase . In addition to his wife, Mary Ann, he was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, James E. Cousino and brother, Carlos Junior Barricklow.
Visitation for Dean will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2021 from 2:00 -4:00 p.m. at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian. Funeral services will be held privately. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and social distancing regulations, only a limited number of individuals will be allowed in the chapel at a time and face coverings are required. Burial will be in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian. The family will hold a Celebration of Dean’s Life later on in the year.
