Nick Gallippo, 67, of Waldron, Mich., went to be with the Lord on Feb. 6, 2021. He passed away with his wife and children by his side in the ICU at Toledo ProMedica Hospital, concluding a four-week battle with Covid-19.
He was born June 19, 1953, in Hudson, Mich., the youngest of eight children born to Richard and Virginia Gallippo, of Waldron. Nick graduated from Waldron High School and worked for many years as a roll form operator at Reed Air Products/Mestek, Inc. Toward the end of his career, he helped set up a new line at the company's Florence, Ky., plant.
Nick was married to Brenda Gallippo at Sauder Village in Archbold, Ohio, on April 7, 2007.
Over the course of his life, Nick enjoyed spending time at the lake, golfing, and playing with his grandchildren. In recent years, he also enjoyed caring for creatures both wild and domestic at his Waldron home.
Nick loved sports and attending games with his family. He especially loved football and was a dedicated Detroit Lions and Michigan Wolverines fan and fantasy football team manager.
Nick was a member of Solid Rock Community Church, in West Unity, Ohio.
Soft spoken and light-hearted, Nick was a good listener with a calming presence who made people feel welcome.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; children April (Randy) Ruggles and Eric (Reyanne) Gallippo; stepchildren Renee (Brett) Schaedler, Aaron (Heather) Boyd, and Marilyn (Jason) Shamplo; siblings Kathleen "Kitty" (Larry) Brown, Judy (Larry) Bernath, Michael (Linda) Gallippo, Margaret "Peggy" Robinson, Dan (Bonnie) Gallippo, and Ronnie "Joe" (Debbie) Gallippo; grandchildren Jake Schaedler, Alexis Cook, Justice Ruggles, Trae Ruggles, Payton Winchell, Aiden Boyd, Eli Winchell, Miley Boyd, Eliza Gallippo, and Harvey Gallippo; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Linda Pretzel, and brother-in-law Jim Robinson.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, no services are scheduled at this time. A memorial in Nick's honor will be announced at a later date.
