Obituary of Michael J. Butchart

Adrian- Michael J. (Mick) Butchart, age 73, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 16, 2021, under the care of Hospice of Lenawee.  He was born June 20, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to William and Mary (Kramer) Butchart. He was a graduate of Adrian High School. Michael married Linda Downer on February 7, 1969 in Adrian at St. Joseph Catholic Church and she survives.

Michael served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968, stationed in Nuremberg, Germany where he maintained communications for the bases in that region. He was then employed at Merillat Industries for 10 years. In retirement, he became caretaker at St. Joseph Cemetery, a job he truly enjoyed…… he said, “no one ever bothered him there!”

He loved his family, playing with his grandkids, going deer hunting in Grayling for over 30 years with family and friends, bicycle riding, jogging, walking, reading, and recently going to the cottage in Harrison, Michigan.

Michael is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Kimberly (Steve) Boley of Napoleon, MI, Tony (Erin) Butchart of Adrian and Brian (Beth) Butchart of Franklin, MI; 3 grandchildren, Charlie Boley, Madelyn Butchart and Miles Butchart; 3 step-grandchildren, Heather Vargas, Shane (Dawn) Boley, Ashley Boley and 3 step great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, William Butchart, Gerald (Judy) Butchart, Bob Butchart and Barbara (Chuck) Gartee, along with several nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
