Obituary of Richard J. Steih
Richard J. Steih, age 53, of Jackson, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Michigan Medicine Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was born on November 29, 1967, in Adrian, Michigan to Wilbur and Carol (Marks) Steih. On December 10, 2005 he married Yvette F. McNicol in Palmyra, Michigan, recently celebrating their 15 year anniversary.
Richard was employed with Amcor Rigid Plastics as a Senior Product Designer and on the very day of his passing celebrated his 29th year of employment with the company. He was very proud of his work and his designs and patents. When Richard wasn’t working, he enjoyed the outdoors, including activities such as hunting, archery, fishing, camping with his family, and kayaking. He had an interest of photography and was the household “Bird Watcher”, always making sure the bird feeders were full and the birds were well fed. Above all else, Richard’s greatest title was that of “Dad” and his greatest joys were his two daughters, Maddie and Claire. He never missed a dance recital or competition from the very beginning and often times made most of their practices. He was a very devoted son, husband, father, brother and friend and will be sorely missed by so many.
He is survived by his wife, Yvette Steih of Jackson; two daughters, Madeline and Claire Steih, both of Jackson; his mother, Carol Steih of Riga; a sister, Cynthia (Kyle) Gonyer of Petersburg; a brother, Jason (Caroline) Steih of Deerfield; his mother and father-in-law, Mark (Kathy) McNicol of Adrian; brother-in-law, Joshua (Kelly) McNicol of Adrian; two nephews, Ethan Gonyer and Parker Steih and three nieces, Mara Gonyer, Allyson McNicol and Emma McNicol. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur and both maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation for Richard will be held on Monday, January 11, 2021, from 2-4 p.m. at Anderson-Rudd Funeral Home, Blissfield. Funeral services will be private. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and social distancing regulations, only a limited number of individuals will be allowed in the chapel at a time and face coverings are required.
