Obituary of Roger Lynn Etter Sr.
Adrian – Roger L. Etter Sr., age 82, of Adrian, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital. He was born on June 20, 1938, in Adrian to John and Alberta (Allen) Etter. Roger married Patricia Ostrander on July 7, 1956, in Adrian and she survives. Roger was a man of many talents. He was a hard worker, who had been employed with American Chain and Cable, retiring after 34 years of service. Prior to retiring, he held many jobs including hauling milk, working for M & S Manufacturing and even spent time as a carpet layer. Roger was not only a devoted husband, father and grandfather, but also a man of strong faith who was a founding member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Adrian.
In addition to his wife Patty, he is survived by his three children, Anna, Robin (Mike) and Roger (Sylvia); three siblings, Ruth Hallet, Ray (Midge) and Danny (Sharronn); a sister-in-law, Esther Etter and brother-in-law, Kenny (Kay) Pickford; ten grandchildren, Ryan (Erica) Johnson, Danny, Chris (Arianna) Johnson, Nick and Brittany Emerson, Angela (Scott) Dykstra, Greg (Mindy) Etter; eight great-grandchildren, Cam, Chase, Zyaire, Jamari, Amaris, Sadie, Caleb and Ellie and four adopted grandchildren, Niddi, Faith, Issac and Asher. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Donnie; two sisters, Joyce and Clara and two brothers, Keith and Cecil.
Visitation for Roger will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021, from 6-8 p.m. at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and social distancing regulations, only a limited number of individuals will be allowed in the chapel at a time and face coverings are required. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 from 10 am until the funeral service at 11 am at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Adrian with Pastor Darryl Etheridge officiating. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian.
