Obituary of Jon William Gandee

Jon W. Gandee, age 80 of Morenci, went to meet the Lord on Thursday, September 3, 2020, at the Hospice of Lenawee House.  He was born in Spencer, West Virginia on June 11, 1940, to the late Elmer and Kathleen (Garrett) Gandee.  On December 10, 1957, he married Nancy L. Roberts in Spencer, WV, and she survives.

Jon attended and graduated from Spencer High School, and was a member of the Morenci Church of the Nazarene.  He and his wife moved to Morenci after he accepted a position as manager of Keizer’s Grocery Store.  Jon was an industrial painter, working many years for Lenco Decorating, and operated the Mountaineer Restaurant alongside his wife for 17 years.  In his free time, he was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren.  Jon was also an avid golfer and bowler, serving on many leagues for years.  He also enjoyed gardening, yard work, woodworking, and painting saw blades.

Surviving besides his wife, Nancy, are children, Jeffrey (Tina) Gandee of Hudson and Joy Garrow of Adrian; grandchildren, Jayme (Marisol) Gandee, Ashley (Justin) Joughin, and Steven Garrow; and great-grandchildren, Jasmin Gandee, Evelyn, Drew, and Maddox Joughin, and Blake and Paisley Garrow.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Gandee, and a sister, Sandra Miller.
