Obituary of Walter John Baker
Walter John Baker, age 92, of Morenci, passed away early Thursday, July 16, 2020, at The Oasis of Adrian. He was born in Toledo on April 4, 1928, to Frederick and Mable (Fisher) Baker. On March 27, 1948, he married Donna Lea Borton in Angola, IN, and she survives.
Walter served his country in the United States Navy and the Coast Guard as a Merchant Marine. He worked over 45 years as an industiral electrician, working at Reichert, Kewaunee, and Champion Spark Plug. Walter was a member of the VFW and the Morenci American Legion. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Surviving besides his wife, Donna, are daughters, Peggy (Brad) Jones, Idris (Richard) Gurica, Dena (Bill) Sauter, Denise (Joseph) Calevro, Sally (Hal) Holubik, and Veronica (Dan) Perry; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Walter was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bruce Baker; sisters, Freida Brown and Betty Etter; and a brother, Fred Baker.
All services for Walter will be private. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci.
