Obituary of Ralph Piercy


Ralph Piercy, age 90, of Morenci passed away July 7, 2020 in Adrian, MI. He was born on January 8, 1930 in Oakland, Missouri to Abner and Anna (Peterson) Piercy.

He moved to Michigan in 1952, and married Janice (Weyenberg) Piercy on June 8, 1978.


He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, and friend. He was known for his friendly disposition and had a gift for only seeing the good in people.  He loved life, and was happiest when he was outdoors or helping others. During his years of employment Ralph worked as a tool liaison at Tecumseh Products for over 40 years.  After retiring, he spent several years working as a crossing guard for Morenci Area Schools, where greeting the children was often the highlight of his day.


Ralph was a member of Medina Federated Church, and was actively involved at the local senior center. He was loved by many, and never met a stranger that didn’t become a friend, thus earning him Morenci’s Citizen of the Year award in 1990.  In his younger years Ralph enjoyed camping with family and friends, where he spent many hours fishing. He also enjoyed hunting, spending time on the golf course, and vacationing in Missouri.


In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by a son Darrin (Becky) Piercy, Donna (Fred) Wolfe, Vonda (Phil) Milosh, Deb (Gene) Momyer, stepson Grady (Danielle) Schaffer, and stepdaughter Kelly (Jamie) Williams; 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, a brother Forrest Piercy, and former spouse, and mother of his children, Doris (Jones) Schaffer.


Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a beloved grandson, Brandon Milosh, brothers, Arthur, Sherwood, and Elvin, and sisters Beatrice, Thelma, Ora, and Lora.


A memorial will be held for Ralph at Medina Federated Church on Saturday, July 11th at 1:00, Pastor Darren Lemmon will officiate.


In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to Medina Federated Church or the Morenci Senior Center.  The Eagle-Marry Funeral Home in Morenci is entrusted with arrangements.
