Sorrows to my cousins, the Witt family.
They are one of my favorite families. My mom, Marilyn, would take me for visits growing up and it was "always" light-hearted fun with a lot of laughs. I remember Uncle JR fondly. He was a hard worker with a lot of pride. I often wished we lived closer to our aunts, uncles, and cousins. Rest In Peace Uncle JR!

One of my fondest memories is of riding in the combine with Wally on a visit to the farm. He was such a fun, sweet soul and will be missed by many. Prayers of peace to the entire Witt family. May your memories sustain you at this difficult time.

First off Sharon and I want to give our condolences to the entire Witt family and very sorry we are not able to make any of the services. I do have a memory I would like to Share. When Sharon and were first married we rented the house from Wally at the end of Stearns Rd. As like most young couples we wanted a dog. So Sharon went to the Lenawee Humane Society to adopt a dog. We picked out a pup and proceeded with the adoption process. During the questions I was asked if we owned or rented our home. Of course I told the gentleman we rented. The gentleman then said, well I will need to call your landlord to get permission. This is where the story gets going. I gave the gentleman the phone number and Wally answers like normal, Witt Farms. The gentleman ask to speak to Wally and Wally says this is him. The gentleman introduces himself and goes on to say I have Jeff Simpson here and he want to adopt a dog and we need your permission. Wally then says Hell no, every dog I’ve seen him get he ends up taking them out back and shoots them. Now I’m sitting across from this person and the expression on his face was something to be desired. His mouth fell open and there was total silence. I then said oh no, what did Wally tell you. He said you have taken all your dogs out back and Shot them. Now I’m in a panic and embarrassed and told him that’s not true. Thankfully Wally was still on the phone and what was only 30 seconds felt like a hour. Wally finally said it was okay and all was good. Wally loved to get me on these type of real life situations and I’m sure I’m not the only one he had gotten. Wally For sure hit a home run on this one and it’s a story that made many laugh. Sharon and I will sure miss him. Many many great memories. Rest In Peace Wally!
