Obituary of Donald Charles Germain
Adrian – Donald Charles Germain, age 80, of Adrian, passed away on October 12, 2019, at ProMedica Bixby Hospital.
He was born on February 27, 1939, in Bay City, to John and Magdelen (Krause) Germain. On September 29, 1962, in Bay City, Donald married Marjorie Michaels, and she preceded him in death on January 18, 2018.
Donald grew up in Bay City, MI, earning All-Valley as a football player in high school. He was offered several scholarships to play college football, ending up playing for Adrian College for two years. After Donald and Marjorie decided to settle in Adrian to raise a family, he began working for General Motors Fisher Body Plant, Tecumseh, MI, in Quality Control. Donald was active in UAW Local 1341, serving in various leadership positions, including the Union Benefits Rep for the plant. Donald was a longstanding TLC Community Credit Union Board Member. He also served on the Board for the Community Action Agency in Adrian and delivered Meals on Wheels. Donald was a member of the Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph Campus, Adrian.
While it was important to Donald to support the wellbeing of others at his work environment and in the community, he most enjoyed time with his family and friends, sharing many experiences of camping, fishing, hunting, golfing, and bowling. Great memories of times spent with Donald can be exchanged by all who knew him: memories of family croquet tournaments, late night card games, high stakes skins golf rounds, or of time spent with him just enjoying life.
Donald is survived by a son, James (Shelly) Germain of Adrian; two daughters, Ann (Kenneth) Adams of Tipton and Sharon (John) Upp of Clayton; two brothers, Robert (Theresa) Germain and Jack (Ina) Germain; two sisters, Janice Germain and Janet Harris; 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Marjorie, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Germain and his parents.
Visitation for Donald will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral liturgy at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Parish, St. James Church in Bay City with
