Obituary of Juanita "Janie" Carrillo Nieto

ADRIAN- Juanita “Janie” Carrillo Nieto, age 91, of Adrian, died February 19, 2019, at Hospice of Lenawee Hospice Home.


She was born August 29, 1927, in Gause, Texas to Lucio and Augustina (Romero) Carrillo.  On August 22, 1945, she married Primetivo R. Nieto Sr. in Thrall, Texas. He preceded her in death on October 3, 1997.  Janie loved knitting, dancing, and going on vacations “up north”.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Cursillo Movement.


Janie is survived by eight children, Eva (Steve) Hyder of Adrian, Arturo (Rita) Nieto of Adrian, Tedio (Patty) Nieto of  Somerset Center, MI, Bob (Shelley) Nieto of Adrian, Adam (Barb) Nieto of Adrian, Delores (Tony) Garcia of Adrian, Primetivo (Karmen) Nieto Jr. of Hudson, and Valentine Nieto of Adrian; a son-in-law, Victor Coronado of Tecumseh; two daughters-in-law, Vicky Nieto and Olga Nieto both of Adrian; 48 grandchildren;

96 great grandchildren; 22 great-great grandchildren; six siblings, Alicia (Lupe) Castillo of Waukesha, WI, Delfina (George) Rodriguez of Wisconsin, Lydia Martinez of Milwaukee, WI, John Lara of Milwaukee, WI, Ubaldo Lara of Austin, TX, and Mary Yanez of Thrall, TX; and a half-sister, Chana Carrillo of Lubbock, TX.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, Lucio Nieto, Henry Nieto Sr. and Jerry Nieto Sr.; a daughter, Patricia Coronado; one brother; and three sisters. 


Visitation will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian where there will be a Vigil Prayer Service held at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at St. Mary of Good Counsel Parish with Fr. Mike Newman as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
