FINDLAY - Ilah Pennington Thyer, born July 17, 1924, to Ray and Lula Pennington, in Fulton County, Ohio, died January 27, 2019.
Ilah was an ammunition inspector during World War II in Adrian, Michigan. Ilah later served as the Executive Director of the Tuberculosis and Health Association of Fulton and Henry, Ohio counties. Other positions were at General Telephone in Adrian, Michigan, and Director of Senior Citizen Center for Lenawee Dept. on Aging in Blissfield. Ilah also owned the Country Scene gift shop in Blissfield. Ilah married Clair “Whitey” Sallows March 16, 1946. She later married Leonard Thyer on August 20, 1977.
Ilah is survived by son Michael (Luana) Sallows, and daughters Karen (Dale) Clark and Randi (Duane) Melvin, step-children Gary (Meda) Thyer, Deborah (Jack) Fatini, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Ilah was preceded in death by her husband Len on July 24, 1995, her parents, and three sisters: Alice (Roy) Hoffman, Wilma (Fred) Bryan, and Ines (Charles) Ham.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian, MI with Pastor Ron Sparks officiating. Graveside services for Ilah will also be held on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Union Cemetery in Wauseon, Ohio where Ilah will be laid to rest in the family plot.
