Obituary of Guadalupe Galnares

Guadalupe (Galindo) Galnares, 85, entered heaven’s gates rejoicing in the presence of our Lord, on Saturday, November 24, 2018, leaving behind her loving family, after a brief illness. She was born on December 12, 1932 to Leander and Mary (Hernandez) Galindo in York Township, Ohio. On June 3, 1950, she married Abraham Galnares Sr. in Adrian, MI and they were married 56 years. She was a devoted wife, beloved mother, proud grandmother of 15; precious great-grandmother and great-great grandmother; treasured sister and sister-in-law; and cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Our mother was a gentle woman with a warm smile; small in stature, with a thoughtful, generous heart of gold, whose selfless spirit set an example for all. She enjoyed a lifetime of travels and precious memories with Abraham and he was the true love of her life. With great appreciation, she treasured the time she cared for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a caring and compassionate woman, who while working at the Lenawee Medical Care Facility took great pride in caring for her patients. She continued that work when she took the time to go to Florida and Ohio to care for her sisters when they battled cancer. She was a beautiful friend to many and she demonstrated to all, the length we should go to in order to put someone else first. She loved writing letters and was first to send out a thank you note. She was a faithful Catholic, a parishioner of St. Mary of Good Counsel, who exemplified the true meaning of Christianity to her family and friends by action and word.

As a homemaker in her earlier years, she had many interests, enjoying time playing the organ, singing, crocheting, sewing and reading scripture. For years, she followed one true passion, decorating cookies and cakes for weddings, holidays, birthdays, religious celebrations, anniversaries, and graduations. Countless family members and friends were blessed with the fruits of her labor and we all knew the love and special touch she added in creating her many tiered cakes.

For all who loved her and were touched by her soul, there is a deep sadness and an emptiness in our hearts. We draw comfort in knowing she is finally in union with our father, Abraham, and celebrating with our Lord and Savior.
