Obituary of Alan VanLoocke
Alan Ralph VanLoocke, age 71, of Blissfield, died at his home in Charlotte, NC on November 24, 2018. Alan was born October 9, 1947, in Adrian, to Arthur and Nola (Miller) VanLoocke. On August 26, 1972, he married Diane Klaiber and she survives. Al was employed by Blissfield Manufacturing for 16 years, Michigan Building Specialties, and was owner/operator of Al VanLoocke Builders. Al graduated from Adrian High School and had an Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering. He was a member of the Blissfield First United Methodist Church. He and his wife, Diane, had a great love for Hawaii, and was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Honolulu, HI. Al was actively involved in the Blissfield community and schools, a church youth group leader, Young Life. He coached for the Blissfield Little League for 10 years, a member of the Blissfield Jaycees. Al enjoyed snorkeling in Hawaii, golfing, mowing his lawn, building halfpipes in his back yard for his teenage sons and their friends, motorcycles, fixing everything with duct tape, snowmobiling, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Diane, he is survived by a son, Cory (Heather) VanLoocke of Charlotte NC. ; three grandchildren, Leilani, Sienna and Sebastian VanLoocke; a former exchange student who was a son and brother to the VanLoocke family, Christian (Janne) Blomfeldt of Denmark, and their children, Alva, Asger Ry and Vigga; a sister, Kay (Dave) Sneary of Blissfield; and many loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ryan VanLoocke; and a brother, Larry VanLoocke. Funeral services will be held Thursday November 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian, with Rev. Bruce Dempsey and Rev. Kristen Coristine officiating. Burial will be in Ogden Twp. Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m.at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian.
