J.V. MITCHELL, age 71 of Clayton, died Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Hospice of Lenawee Hospice Home. He was born December 7, 1946 (Pearl Harbor Day, a fact he was very proud of) in Hamilton, AL, to Victor and Eva (Raper) Mitchell. J.V. served in United States Army in Germany during the Vietnam Era and on July 26, 1974, he married Joyce Scroggins in Adrian and she survives.
J.V. was employed as a machine repairman at Dura Corporation for 32 years. He was a member of Cadmus Presbyterian Church and enjoyed working in his garden, riding his Harley and tinkering in his garage.
Surviving J.V., in addition to his wife, Joyce, is a son, Jason Mitchell of Dallas, TX, a daughter Jayme Mitchell-Murry (Tom Cargill) of Rives Junction, MI, twin grandchildren, Joel and Julia Murry and a brother, Jerry (Peggy) Mitchell of the Villages, FL. Preceding him in death were his parents.
Visitation hours for J.V. will take place on Friday, October 26, 2018, at the Cadmus Presbyterian Church from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ann Marie Montgomery officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Annis-Fint Post 1584 directly after the service. There will be no graveside services.
