Obituary of Charles Risner
ADRIAN – Charles Risner, age 85, of Adrian, passed away on September 26, 2018, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital.
Charles was born on July 29, 1933, to William and Flossie (West) Risner on his mother’s birthday. He and his family later moved to Jasper, Michigan, where he attended Sand Creek Schools. On January 8, 1952, he married his sweetheart, Lois Divert at City Hall in Adrian. He went to work for American Chain and Cable in 1952 and retired in 1987 after 35 years. He went to work for Spielmans in Adrian until his health made him quit working.
He and Lois raised their children together in Sand Creek Schools area. When the children all graduated, they moved to Adrian to live out their retirement years.
Charles loved sports, bowling, coached little league teams, and watched the Tigers and Lions games on t.v.
He is survived by five sons, Charles M. (Deb), David, Edward, Glen, and Keith Risner; four daughters, Joy (Kirk) Gilbert, Julie (Steve) Black, Christina (Jim) Knowles, and Denise (Chris) Chandler; 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters, Arlene Divert and Lucille (Raymond) Grubbs; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and
two sisters.
Visitation for Charles will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018, from 6-8 p.m. at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian will Rev. William Van Valkenburg officiating. Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery.
