Obituary of George Gunderman
George Edward Gunderman, age 97 of Blissfield passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018 at ProMedica Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, Ohio. He was born on April 17, 1921 in Toledo, Ohio to Edward and Dorothea (Miller) Gunderman. George served his country proudly with the United States Navy from 1942 to 1945, stationed in New York on Sea Duty. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Harmon sixty-five years ago and she preceded him in death just recently on July 6, 2018. George was a skilled woodworker and enjoyed building picnic tables, wooden lawn ornaments and crafting cement and pottery figurines which he and Dorothy sold from their home. Later, George owned and operated Michigan Saw and Cutter, Inc. for over forty five years, starting first in his home and later with two locations at 3326 Monroe Street in Toledo and 5559 Alexis Road in Sylvania, Ohio. He closed the business and retired in August of 2017. George and Dorothy enjoyed dancing and traveling, visiting places such as Bangladesh, the Philippians, Ecuador and Germany to name a few. George often made time to enjoy hunting when possible.
He will be missed by four grandchildren, Guy and Olivia Raftshol, Kelly Stork and Ronald Kenner; and many generations of extended family and friends. In addition to his wife, Dorothy and his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Olovine Hagerty, son, Jerry and daughter, Lynda Raftshol.
A funeral will be held Thursday, September 27, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Anderson-Rudd Funeral Home, Blissfield. Visitation will be from 11 am until 12:45 pm prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, OH.
