Obituary of Eileen McCollum

CLAYTON-Eileen M. McCollum, age 95, of Clayton, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Hillsdale Hospital.  She was born March 11, 1923, in Palmyra to William H. and Marie K. (Schlatterer) Frye.  She attended the Ganun School; graduated from the Adrian Senior High School in 1940; the Lenawee County Normal in 1941; and Siena Heights College in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree. She also earned several extra credits and took a correspondence course from the Eastern Michigan University.

Eileen taught at the Ottawa Lake Two Room School from 1941-1943 and retired from the Deerfield Public Schools in 1984 after 33 years of teaching.  Her interests were camping, bowling, shuffleboard, reading, crafts, and helping family and others.  She was a member of the Wellsville United Methodist Church until moving to Clayton, Michigan.  She then attended the Bethany Assembly of God.  While in Florida, she attended the Avon Park Lake Baptist Church and the Methodist Church.  Her winters were spent at Lake Glenada, Avon Park, Florida. 

Survivors include her daughters, Rosaleen (Neil) McCarty of Osseo, Michigan and Terry (Robert) Beagle of Clayton; granddaughter Kristine (Rick) Rodriguez of Mason, Michigan; grandsons, Mark (Erica) McCarty of Hillsdale, James (Deb) Beagle of Manchester, Michigan, and Lee (Brenda) Beagle of Morenci; eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.  Preceding her in death was her husband, Russell McCollum on March 20, 1994; four brothers, George (Ben), John, Fred, and Macklyn Frye; and four sisters, Velma Garno, Sybilla Smith, Anna Dettman and Virginia Gordon.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 1 pm at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian with Pastor Ron Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Palmyra Cemetery.  Visitation will be also be held on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 pm. at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian.
