HUDSON – Francis “Tick” Van Akin, age 87, of Hudson, died September 7, 2018, at Hospice of Lenawee Hospice Home surrounded by his family.
He was born October 29, 1930, to Roy and Rose (Shetler) Van Akin. He was married to Susan Ball on August 3, 1974 and she survives. Tick was employed by M & S Manufacturing for 45 years, retiring in 1996. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner and belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Detroit.
In addition to his wife, Susan, he is survived by his nieces, Stephanie Jones, Stacy (Bruce) Arnold, and Samantha (Dale) Thacker; special friend, Jeff Bowers, as well as several other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends. He will also be missed by his special companions, Lil Bit and Abby.
At Tick’s request, cremation has taken place. There will be no public visitation or services. Special thanks goes out to Hospice of Lenawee for the wonderful care they provided.
