Obituary of Nora Jane Fenicle
Nora Jane Fitch Harsh Fenicle entered life eternal at Lenawee Medical Care Facility September 1, 2018, with her family present. Nora ”Jane” was born on June 8, 1928 in Adrian Michigan to Rev. Floyd and Virginia (Cyphert) Fitch. She attended Adrian College where she met her husband Robert Harsh. They were married in Angola, Indiana in April 1947. To this union was born their daughters Frances Anne Kottke and Martha Jane Wheeler. Sadly, Bob was killed in September 1950 in route to serve in the Korean War.
Jane owned Schwartz’s Restaurant in downtown Adrian where she was known for her homemade pies. After selling the restaurant she worked at several Adrian locations including Shopper’s Fair and J. C. Penney’s. In 1981 she moved to Lafayette, Indiana and completed her working career at Purdue University where she enjoyed meeting many of the sports team’s coaches and staff. After retiring from Purdue in 1997 she moved to Palm Bay, Florida to live with her sister Anne. While there she enjoyed many cruises with family and friends and trips to Disney World. Jane eventually moved back to Adrian in 2011 to be closer to family.
Jane loved watching sports of every kind, especially the Detroit Tigers and whatever sport the Purdue Boilermakers were playing. She never turned down a good mystery or spy novel. Many people were recipients of her knitting and crocheting skills. She especially enjoyed flower gardening, and wherever she lived insisted on decorating her patio with flower pots.
She will be remembered by her daughters Fran and Marti and her sons in law John Kottke and Doug Wheeler. She leaves grandchildren Sean (Charlotte) Kottke, Aaron Kottke, Jennifer (Daniel) Rothschild, and Abigail (William) Hessling, great grandchildren Alexis (Phillip) Fischer, August Cavazos-Kottke, Ian Herrick, Elizabeth and Harriet Rothschild, brother Floyd (Pat) Fitch and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings David, Roger, Anne and William Fitch as well as her second husband Wilbur Fenicle.
