Obituary of Betty Betz

MORENCI – Betty Jane Betz, age 83, of Morenci, died Thursday, August 23, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

 

She was born January 31, 1935, in Carey, Ohio to Tackett and Orgielee (Barnett) Fletcher. On May 19, 1951, she married Melvin Lewis Betz in Angola and he preceded her in death on December 21, 2007. Betty had been employed by Hudson Metal Products, retiring in 1972. She enjoyed traveling and fishing, but her family will always remember her as being a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.

 

Surviving Betty is a son, Greg (Roberta) Betz of Morenci; a daughter, Debbie (Rod) Rutledge of Mobile, AL; son-in-law, Jim McDowell of Morenci;  two sisters, Barbara (James) Brown of Adrian and Josephine Russ of Adrian; 8 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 9 step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Melvin, she was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Sharon Frederick McDowell, a sister, Madge Hunt, a son-in-law, Jack Frederick, and her step-father, James Burrow.

 

Visitation for Betty will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2018, 2-6 p.m. at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian with Pastor Robert Loar officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci.
