PALMYRA – Gene M. Engel, age 61, of Palmyra, passed away May 27, 2018, at his home surrounded by family.
He was born July 8, 1956, in Rantoul, IL to Charles Smith and Madeline Engel. He served in the United States Army from 1975 to 1976. Gene was self-employed in farming and as a mechanic. He attended Ogden Bible Community Church, Adrian. Gene enjoyed woodworking, and mechanics. On February 6, 2018, he married Mary Webb and she survives.
In addition to his wife, Mary, Gene is survived by a son, Jason Engel; a daughter, Jennifer (Daniel) Tomaszewski; a sister, Deborah (Richard) Moore; a half-sister, Victoria Smith; a half-brother, Tony Smith; an Aunt, Jane (Bill) Allen; two grandchildren, Grace and Carter Tomaszewski. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Visitation for Gene will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018, from 5-8 p.m. at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian with Rev. John Maguire officiating. Burial will be in Palmyra Cemetery.
