Obituary of Carlos Barricklow

ADRIAN – Carlos Junior Barricklow, age 97, of Adrian, died October 31, 2017, at Brookdale, Adrian.                        

He was born July 27, 1920, in Bucyrus, Ohio to Carlos A. and Nola (Brock) Barricklow. He graduated from Sand Creek High School in 1938. On July 10, 1943, he married Marcella Onsted in Lucedale, Mississippi and she survives. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1942 -1946, in Okinawa and Ieshama, Japan, earning several medals, including the Victory Medal and the Bronze Battle Star. Junior had been a farmer all his life, and also was a Bus Driver for Onsted Schools for 30 years. He attended North Rome Baptist Church. He was the last surviving Charter and Life Member of the Durkee Seager American Legion post #550 in Onsted and was a member of the 40 et 8.

In addition to his wife, Marcella, he is survived by his children, David (Bronwyn) Barricklow of McGrady, NC, Susan Mansfield of Grand Rapids, and Carla Barricklow of Adrian; a brother, Dean Barricklow of Adrian; grandchildren, Todd Pawson, Amy Mills, Joshua Barricklow, Elizabeth Barricklow, Zachary Barricklow, Joel Barricklow, Brook Yeager, Bry Mansfield and Bree Stuk; and 16 great-grandchildren, plus one expected in February 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Linda Wells; grandson, Bronson Mansfield; and son-in-law, Brad Mansfield.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian, with Rev. Thomas Mansfield, of Traverse City officiating. Burial will be in Maple Shade Cemetery with Full Graveside Military Rites conducted by the Durkee Seager American Legion Post #550 Onsted. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, 2107, from 2-4 and 6-8 the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian.
