Obituary of Marion "Pete" Roberson
Marion “Pete” Roberson, age 92 of Whiteford, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017 at ProMedica Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, OH.
Pete was born August 26, 1925 in Ethridge, TN at his grandmother Morgan’s house. He came to Samaria, MI in 1942 to visit his sister and stayed. He was the son of John and Florence (Morgan) Roberson of Lawrenceburg, TN. He graduated from Dundee High School in 1944 and went into the Navy the same year. He served as a gunner on the U.S.S. Iowa and ran amphibious boats in WWII.
On August 2, 1947 he married Cleo Myrtie Martin in Samaria, MI.
He became a finish carpenter in 1947 and retired from the profession in 1988. He worked for many contactors and retired from Vicon Supplies. He belonged to Local 1138. He was an avid bow hunter and woodsman, loved gardening and collecting antiques.
Pete and his wife attended New Life Church in Petersburg, MI. He was preceded in death by parents, brother Frankie and sisters, Reba Clarke and Ruby Douge. Surviving him are his wife Cleo and five children: Howard (Nancy), Keitha (Eugene) Morgan, Edwin (Meylin), Beverly (Gary) Koppelman and Marla Martin. Also surviving, are 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and a brother, Jay (Agnes).
Visitation will take place on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. the Anderson-Rudd Funeral Home, Blissfield and on Saturday, from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. at the church, prior to the service. Funeral services for Pete will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at New Life Church 6023 Summerfield Rd, Petersburg, Michigan 49270, with Gary Koppelman and son, Boden officiating. Burial will follow in Whiteford Union Cemetery in Lambertville with full military rites conducted by the Blissfield American Legion Post 325.
