Obituary of James Young

ADRIAN: James F. Young, age 82 of Adrian, Michigan passed away on August 9, 2017, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born September 10, 1934 in Tecumseh, MI. to John and Ethel (Allison) Young. On September 29, 1956, he married Connie (Bondy) Young and she survives. James graduated in 1953 from Tecumseh High School. He then went on to Toledo Barber College and worked at Gregory’s Barber Shop, he was the owner of Deerfield Barber Shop and worked at Wilson’s Barber Shop and then retiring in 2015.

Jim was a jack-of-all-trades, from farming, to mechanical and home repairs, to barbering.  He worked in several factories doing machine repair, and in construction, building his own home in 1990.  His primary career and passion was as a barber for 58 years.  He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, puttering in his garage, and playing golf and cards.  Jim was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Eagles.

Surviving Jim besides his wife Connie, are his children, Roxanne K. (David) Eby of Ann Arbor, MI; James (Judy) Young of Washington, MI.; a sister, Katherine Cooper of Ocala, FL; two brothers, John (Shirley) Young of Swanton, OH, Herbert (JoAnn) Young of Adrian, MI; and four grandchildren, Rochelle (Robert) Fulks, James R., Colleen and Joseph Young. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Todd A. Young, one brother, Merlin Young and two sisters, Wanda Carter-Miller and Loretta Frederick.

At James request, cremation has taken place. The family invites you to a celebration of James’s life at Jim’s home on September 9, 2017, from 2-4 p.m.

Burial of cremains will be at Lenawee Memorial Gardens in Tecumseh.
