Obituary of Marie Rupley

Marie Rupley ADRIAN – Marie Rupley, age 87, of Adrian, died Monday, September 24, 2012, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. Born February 15th, 1925, at Cadmus, MI, to Joseph and Minnie (Smith) Funchion. She graduated from Clayton school in 1942 and married Ernest Rupley, Jr. on June 10th, 1944. He preceded her in death on February 9th, 1994. Marie worked for the Adrian School system for 19 years, including Prairie and Michener in the Cafeteria, retiring in 1990. She also worked for Easy Way Laundromat for 10 years. Marie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a very devote catholic and past that gift of faith on to her children. She joined the Altar Society in 1956 at Rose Da Lima Church in Perrysburg, Ohio. She also belonged to the Woman of the Moose Lodge and the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary in Adrian. Marie will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends, who dearly cherished her for their memories that included, family get-togethers, homemade dinners, special occasions and holiday gatherings. Marie is survived by eight children, Carol (Larry) Wallis, James (Karen) Rupley, Kathleen (James) Johnson, Beth (Philip) Morse, Thomas (Barbara) Rupley, Mary (Rodney) Clark, Stephen Rupley and Joseph (Theresa) Rupley; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Arleta Sager and Maxine Camp; and a brother, Donald Funchion. The Funeral Liturgy for Marie will be offered on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of Good Counsel Parish with Father Shawn Lowery presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Hudson. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian where a Vigil Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Thursday from 9 – 9:45 a.m. at St. Mary of Good Counsel Parish Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Hospice of Lenawee.
