Obituary of Gregory Sprague
Gregory Wayne Sprague ADRIAN – Gregory Wayne Sprague, age 59, of Adrian, passed away, Sunday, September 23, 2012, surrounded by his family and friends, under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. He was born August 31, 1953, in Hudson, Michigan and raised in Morenci, Michigan by his parents, Dorothy and Harold Sprague. He graduated from Morenci High School in 1971. He then went to Rangley College in Colorado on a baseball scholarship. Greg married Janet M. Ely, his high school sweetheart, on May 12, 1974, and they have been happily married for 38 years and she survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Dr. Sarah (Eric) Salenbien and Rachel (Eric) Nichols. He was so proud of their accomplishments, Sarah is a Dentist and Rachel is a Nurse Practitioner. He also has two beautiful grandchildren, Ella and Owen Salenbien. Greg’s greatest enjoyment was his family, he was devoted to them in every way, never missing an activity or event and he especially enjoyed the girl’s athletics. He also loved gardening, fishing, mushroom hunting, University of Michigan sports and vacationing with his family and friends in Northern Michigan and in Key west, Florida. Greg was known for his carefree personality that provided entertainment for all. He was the local jokester at the Spring’s party store which he owned and operated 13 years. He also worked for a beverage company, direct line communication and flipped and remodeled houses. Greg is also survived by his mother, Dorothy Sprague; sister, Brenda (Doug) Wyeth; brother, Matthew (JoAnne) Sprague; a special aunt, Eunice Stone and many other family and friends too numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services for Greg will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian with Pastor Fritz Kruse and Pastor Ron Keller officiating. Burial will be in Green’s Lakeside Cemetery at Devil’s Lake. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gregory Sprague Scholarship Fund. Envelopes are available at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian.
