Obituary of Richard Gippert

Richard "Dick" Gippert ADRIAN-Richard “Dick” Gippert, age 87, of Adrian, died on Thursday, September 20, 2012, at ProMedica Bixby Hospital. He was born October 25, 1924, in Adrian to Clyde and Matilda (Krueger) Gippert. On June 5, 1954, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Adrian, he married Patsy “Pat” Ott-Baird and she survives. Dick was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He had been employed with Adrian College as an electrician from 1981-2000. Dick served his country from 1943-1946, in the United States Navy in the Pacific. He was a member of the Annis-Fint V.F.W. Post #1584. He was an avid reader. He was a man of strong faith, and a loving husband and father. Dick was a True Spartan Football Fan!! In addition to his wife, Patsy, he is survived by one son, Michael (Debbie) Gippert of Venice, FL; three daughters, Julie (Tom) Smith of Adrian, Cindy Gippert and her husband, Jesse Gaines of Adrian and Caroline (Andy) Lopez of Adrian; a second daughter, who was always #1, Pam Witt, of Deerfield; four grandchildren, Todd, Jennifer, John, and Katie; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Joan Campbell of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Arvin Gippert; and one sister, Ruth Kelley. Funeral services for Dick will be held on at 11 a.m., Monday, September 24, 2012, at the Herrick Chapel on the Adrian College Campus with Pastor Joel Sarrault officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery with full graveside military rites conducted by the Annis-Fint V.F.W. Post #1584. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian. Visitation will also be held at Herrick Chapel on the Adrian College Campus on Monday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Adrian College or to St. John’s Lutheran Church. Envelopes are available at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian.
