Obituary of Shirley Green

Shirley A. Green MORENCI – Shirley A. Green, age 75, of Morenci, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at Provincial House. Shirley was born August 11, 1936, at home in Fairfield Township the daughter of William and Marie (Newell) Lemke. On November 11, 1956 she married Kenneth D. Green at Ridgeville Bible Church in Jasper, MI. Shirley and Kenneth celebrated almost 52 years of marriage prior to his death in 2008. Shirley was a devoted wife and mother. She treasured her children and her grandson. She loved to cook – helped with many of the neighbor kids wedding receptions and rehearsal dinners, and family reunions. She loved to embroidery, knit and crochet, and had fun with flower arranging. She belonged to the State Line Extension group for many years and also taught 4H knitting class. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Becky Zook of Sand Creek and her grandson, Arthur Zook of Sand Creek; ex-son-in-law, Bill Zook; her sister-in-law, Marian Lemke, many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her son, James, sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Richard Kern, brother, Robert W. Lemke, her parents, two nieces and a nephew. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at 12:00 noon, at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian with Reverend William VanValkenburg officiating. Burial will be in Lyons Cemetery, Lyons, Ohio. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m., at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairfield Fire Dept. Envelopes are available at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian. Shirley wants to thank her neighbors and friends for always being there when she needed help, especially, Al & Vicki Hauser, Pete & Doris Oard, Roger & Sherrie Gallup, Brad Hilton and Rob Gillespie.
