Milbert A. “Poke” Willnow ADRIAN – Milbert A. “Poke” Willnow, age 94, of Adrian, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at Grand Court. He was born December 11, 1916, in Adrian to Adolph and Erna (Niemann) Willnow. He was married to Mary Martinus on August 30, 1942, in Temple, TX. She preceded him in death on November 9, 2008. He retired from Dura Corp. in 1980. Poke served in the Army Air Corp, as a 2nd Lieutenant and pilot of a B-17 Flying Fortress from 1941-1945. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church. He is survived by a son, Grant Willnow of Lancaster, NY; a daughter, Janice Hamlin of Surprise, AZ; four grandchildren, Jessica (Hamlin) Simmerman, Amy Foote, Martin Willnow and Heidi Krone; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, two sisters and three brothers. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 21, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Brian Keller officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Interment of cremains will be in Palmyra Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church. Envelopes are available at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian.
