Ric Hooton

Ric Hooton, age 64, of Adrian, who resided in Merritt Island, FL, formerly of Onsted, MI passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital. He was born November 27, 1957, in Adrian, MI to Harold and Lillie Mae (Prater) Hooton. Ric graduated from Adrian High School. He married Taleen Vokoun on May 12,1979. Ric loved to restore vintage VW vehicles and take them to car shows. He won several Best of Show awards. Ric and Taleen would also take their VW bus camping with their granddaughter Lily. Ric enjoyed riding dirt bikes as a young adult, going on snowmobile trips with the guys and traveling the country with Taleen on their Harley. Ric taught his grandchildren how to swim on Lake Loch Erin. He always looked forward to NASCAR Sundays and volunteered at Michigan International Speedway as a pit crew clean up member. Two years ago, Ric and Taleen retired to Florida which was their dream. When Taleen passed in November 2021 Ric was heartbroken. He had a very difficult time coping with her loss. He is now with her once again in Heaven. 

 

Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Brandi (Kurt) Colone and Hope (Brock) Mater; sister, Sandi (Kevin) Albright; five grandchildren, Lily, Dean, Jake, Alec, and Lydia; canine companion, CoCo who will now be living with Brandi and her family. Along with extended family members and close friends that will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Taleen and both parents, Harold and Lillie Mae. 

 

Funeral services for Ricky will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian with Pastor Greg Burdine officiating. Burial will be held in Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh.
