Harry T Teets

Manitou Beach:  Harry T. Teets age 82 of Manitou Beach passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility. He was born January 23, 1939, in Yale, MI to Voyle and Shirley (Lucas) Teets. He graduated in 1957 from Tecumseh High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957-1961.


On October 16, 1966, he married Nancy Elizabeth Drefke at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Adrian, and she survives him. Together they enjoyed almost 55 years of marriage with five children, Molly Harris and Melody (Matt) Kennedy of Adrian, Marcy (Stephen) Riley of Chicago, Micah (Jennifer) Teets of Franklin, MI, and Marcus (Raquel) Teets of Santa Fe, NM. They have 13 grandchildren.


In the 1970’s, Harry initiated the Lenawee County Chess Club. He avidly enjoyed chess and bridge and attended a monthly Sunday night bridge group


Harry retired from Kapnick and Company as VP and CPCU after 35 years. In retirement, he took art classes at Siena Heights University. Harry became a Freelance Thinker and a blogger under the pseudonym, Harry the Risk Taker. He enjoyed sailing lightings and sunfish on Devils Lake. He took trips to Ireland and Peru with his sons and he and Nancy traveled to Germany and Italy several times as well as several places around the United States. They took great joy in hosting many family celebrations at their lake house.


Besides his wife and children, Harry is survived by his sister-in-law, Darlene Elston; brothers-in-law, William Elston and Duane Reum; and several nieces and nephews. Harry was preceded in death by his parents; parents in-law Carl and Lnora Drefke his sister, Yvonne Reum; brother-in-law, Carl Drefke; and a granddaughter, Nicole Renee Teets.

Nancy and family are very grateful for the wonderful care Harry received from Elara Caring Hospice and Lenawee Medical Care Facility.


Funeral services for Harry will be held at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home in Adrian on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the time of the service. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery following the service.
