Tecumseh – Donald Lee Elkins Sr, age 74, of Tecumseh, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at his home under the loving care of his family. He was born on April 22, 1947, in Pikeville, KY, the son of John and Linda (Dameron) Elkins. On October 19, 1968, in Clintonwood, Virginia he married the love of his life Marilyn “Mary” Hall and she survives. Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his time in service to our country, he began work at the Ford Rawsonville Plant, where he remained for 35 years, before retiring in 2005. In his free time, he found enjoyment in being outdoors, fixing cars, and exploring his interest in tractors. Most of all, Donald loved spending all the time he could with his family and found a particular joy in spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Mary, Donald is survived by his three children, John Elkins (Dawn), Donald Elkins Jr. (Jinny), and Shelly Evans (Justin); his grandchildren, Tim, Tyler, Trevor, Travis, Thomas, Tanner, Trace, Kari, Ryan, Kyle, Emily, Connor, and Gracie; his 5 great-grandchildren; his brothers Ted Elkins (Patricia) and Johnny Mike; his sister, Peggy Ratliff; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Donald’s family will receive friends during a time of visitation on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Tecumseh (1448 Short St. Tecumseh, MI 49286) from 4-7PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021, beginning at 12:30PM in the funeral home. Internment will follow at Lenawee County Memorial Gardens.
