Franklin L. Kope

ADRIAN-Franklin L. Kope, age 77, of Adrian, died at home Thursday, September 9, 2021. He was born November 23, 1943, in Pittsford Twp. to Sebert and Maxine (Wollet) Kope. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1961-1965.  On June 11, 1966, he married Margaret Goulding and she survives.  Frank had been the owner and operator of Kope General Contractors for 30 years.  He had also been employed by the Gus Harrison Correctional Facility for 21 years as a Corrections Officer.  He enjoyed restoring old cars and was the proud owner of a 1940 Ford pick-up truck. This passion led to his membership within the Early Ford V-8 Club of America.  Frank was a dedicated member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister.


In addition to his wife, Marge, he is survived by his children, Daniel (Erika) Kope of Addison, Ann Kope  of Salt Lake City, Utah and Douglas Kope of Salt Lake City, Utah; four grandchildren, Sarah, Jennifer, Allison, and Nina; one great-granddaughter, Jocelyn; three sisters, Jean Stoyk of Hudson, Mary (Gordon) Forrest of Adrian, and Dee (Rodney) Bellman of Pittsford, Michigan; and two brothers, Charles (Patty) Kope of Adrian and Steve Kope of Hudson.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two older brothers.


The Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, St. Mary Campus presided by Fr. Michael Newman. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian where there will be a Vigil Prayer Service held at 7:30 p.m.  Visitation will also be held on at Holy Family Parish, St. Mary Campus one hour prior to the service.
