ADRIAN - J.T. Cagle, age 80, of Adrian, Michigan, died suddenly on April 1, 2018. J.T. was born on January 21, 1938, to Luchen and Mary Vernell (Frederick) Cagle in Bear Creek, Alabama. As a child he picked cotton with his family, and at the age of 16 drove his parents and siblings to their new home in Adrian.
J.T. first worked at the A & W Restaurant in Adrian and then moved on to Bridgeport Brass factory, and worked at various gas stations around Adrian, particularly Poe's Gulf gas station as a mechanic and wrecker driver. In his early years J.T. loved drag racing at Milan Dragway. J.T. loved to wheel and deal trading cars and trucks. In 1983 he was proud to open J.T.'s Automotive, with the memorable slogan, "If we can't fix it, it ain't broke." J.T. retired from owning and operating his business in 2000. J.T. and his wife, Sharon, relaxed and spent many summers camping and fishing at Sunny's Campground in Ohio.
On March 27, 1981 J.T. married his loving wife, Sharon Harsh and she survives. Above all else, J.T. loved his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife he is survived by his three sons, Steve (Debra) Cagle of Somerset Center, Tim Cagle of Sand Creek and Scott (Heidi) Cagle of Adrian; his six grandchildren Jake and Olivia Cagle, Travis (Janelle) and Torey Cagle, Taylor (Dustin) Mohr and Emmalee Cagle; and his great grandchild Sage. He is also survived by his brother Gary (Pam) Cagle, sister, Amy Lynn (Bill) Justice, brother Henry (Amy) Hendershot, brother-in-law Johnny Holt and many treasured nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved sister Jean Holt, nephew Mike Holt and niece Cindy Holt.
Visitation will take place at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian on Friday, April 6, 2018, from 4-8 p.m. and on Saturday, April 7, 2018, from 2-3 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Jamie Driskill officiating. Private burial in Palmyra Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions in J.T.'s memory can be made to LISD Tech Center Automotive Program or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
