ADRIAN-Kathryn J. “Kate” Condon, age 94, of Adrian, died February 26, 2018, surrounded by her family.
She was born August 22, 1923, in Hudson to Ernest and Eileen (Nies) Hughes. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1941. On June 19, 1948, she married Louis C. Condon, Sr at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and he preceded her in death on June 21, 2016. She was employed by the Lenawee County Health Department until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and their Rosary Altar Society, Red Hat Society, and Toastmasters. Kate always enjoyed time with her family and especially watching sunsets on Round Lake. She was always busy with community and church volunteer projects and was especially proud of her work with the S.A.M. program (Senior Adult Ministry of St. Mary’s and St. Joseph’s Churches).
Kate is survived by her three daughters, Judy (Lee) Sheridan of Clio, Jeanne (Rick) Popiolek of Lambertville, and Janice “Jan” Bishop of Sand Creek; four sons, Louis Charles Jr “Charlie” (Sue) Condon of Adrian, David Condon of Holland, OH, Larry (Joni) Condon of Adrian and Michael Condon of Walled Lake, MI. She is also survived by a brother, Phil (Ann) Hughes and sister-in-law, Joan Condon all of Adrian; 15 grandchildren, Louis III, Jennifer, Jeff, Julie, Kevin, Andy, Greg, Katie, Ryan, Kayla, Dustin, Brent, Michael, Kathryn, and Nick; nine great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, parents, and two brothers, Norman Hughes in infancy, and Jerry Hughes.
Visitation for Kate will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian, where a Rosary will be said by Jeanne Popiolek at 3:30 p.m. and a Vigil Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Monday, March 5, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until the time the funeral Liturgy at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of Good Counsel Church, Adrian with Fr. Tom Murphy presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
