End of Life Planning for Women

You’ve probably dealt with a lot of planning tasks during your adult life; when you planned your wedding, raised a family, scheduled vacations and daily goals. Some women don’t consider end of life planning for themselves, in spite of all the extra planning they’ve done for others through the years.

Consider pre-planning your funeral now, while there is a chance to voice your desires and wishes. As woman, you may be thinking that your wishes aren’t important, after all, many women often sacrifice their own desires for those of their family members. But, now is the best time to get arrangements ready for end of life activities that you’d like to see happen.

Perhaps you are concerned about the cost of pre-planning your funeral now. There are many advantages to paying for this in advance; but if that isn’t in your immediate outlook, at least write down what you’d like happen while others are remembering you.

There may be a favorite dress that you’d like family members to use when they say goodbye; or a special flower you would like to have them remember you with.

If you had a special hobby or pastime, sometimes including mementos of that can be a comfort to others who will remember you for that hobby. A lady who loved gardening might have special Forget-Me-Not seed packets passed out along with the prayer cards during funeral visitation. Or, if quilting was a hobby, the project scraps of leftover fabric can be made in to a special pillow or item for a grandchild who wants to have a close memory of you.

Funeral planning doesn’t need to be difficult or morbid, and you can bring your personality and flavor to the life celebration by writing down suggestions in advance. Now would be a good time to start your end of life planning.
